Coaching Development

Coaching Supervision
As coaches, we all feel overwhelmed at times, sometimes due to the work of helping others, sometimes due to the system in which we live and work. We tussle with ethical issues around boundaries, confidentiality, conflicts of interest and dual relationships. We face situations with our clients that we haven’t come across before. We experience self-doubt.
Supervision gives you the space and the time to process all of these situations and one-to-one supervision allows you to go deep and at a pace that suits you. Supervision is also a place to learn and grow your capabilities as a coach. To celebrate success and notice what is going well. It is a safe place to explore issues and to grow further. With your coaching supervisor you can explore where the personal (your values and beliefs) meets the professional (how you show up as a coach). Typical coaching topics might include -
• Exploring the coach’s internal process through reflective practice
• Reviewing the coaching agreement and any other psychological or physical contracts, both implicit and explicit
• Uncovering blind spots
• Ethical issues
• Ensuring the coach is “fit for purpose” and perhaps offering accountability
• Looking at all aspects of the coach for professional development and the client’s environment for opportunities for growth in the system
In 2022 I completed the Diploma in Reflective Practice and Supervision through Coaching Development and I have over 20 years of coaching experience as well as being PCC accredited with the ICF. I am a qualified Mentor Coach for the ICF.

ICF Mentor Coaching
Mentor Coaching for an ICF credential
• Applying for ACC
• Renewing ACC
• Applying for PCC
Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on recorded coaching sessions to increase your capability in coaching, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.
Mentor Coaching should take place over an extended time (3-month minimum) in a cycle that allows for listening and feedback from the Mentor Coach while also allowing reflection and practice on the part of the coach being mentored.
What does this mean in practice?
For ICF coaching at least 3 of your 10 hours must be 1:1 with a mentor coach. Some coaches opt to do all their 10 hours 1:1. We will have one-hour calls to be arranged as convenient. Some calls may be of 30 minutes in duration when they are preceded by the coach mentor and the mentee individually listening to a recording of the mentee’s work.
How the sessions work
We focus on core competency development by reviewing and providing verbal and written feedback on a series of the mentee’s coaching sessions. You will record a 30-minute coaching session (audio only) with a coachee, make a transcript and send the recording and transcript to me for evaluation against the competencies. Over a 10-session mentor coaching arrangement we might listen to 3 recordings and spend time looking at strengths and development areas.
